The Li Auto D1 Plus is a large electric MPV that never reached production
Li Auto is still a budding Chinese automaker with as few as five years of experience on the market. Despite this circumstance, it already has a portfolio of vehicles, some of them released and others never greenlit into production. The D1 Plus falls into the latter category.
The development of the large minivan started in 2017. Its main buyer was DiDi, a conglomerate of taxi and ride-sharing companies that intended to use the electric vehicle in its business structure. Li Auto even produced a small test batch, but DiDi abruptly canceled the partnership without explaining the reasons.
The never-released MPV ran on the same chassis as the Leading Ideal One SUV (see video). As such, both had the same wheelbase length of 2,935 mm (114.65 inches). The SUV also has a large battery pack on board giving it up to 500 km (310 miles) of range.
