Ineos Grenadier spied running around in pickup truck body

Ineos Automotive will soon be expanding its Grenadier lineup inspired by the classic Land Rover Defender to include a pickup version. Here are some photos made during its recent tests.

The images show what looks like a Double Cab truck and a rather modest-sized bed. In all likelihood, this is exactly what the Grenadier will look like with its wheelbase stretched from 2,922 to 3,175 millimeters, like the automaker promised. A seven-seater SUV will also be released later with the same wheelbase.

There are no details regarding the powertrain yet, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see it borrowed from the original Grenadier launched in 2022. This implies two BMW engines, a petrol inline six-cylinder mill rated at 286 PS (282 hp / 210 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque and its diesel counterpart good for 249 PS (246 hp / 183 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft). Both connect to a permanent AWD system through an eight-speed A/T, a two-speed transfer case and three differential locks.

A hydrogen fuel cell variant of the Grenadier had also been in the works, but the project was shelved indefinitely.
