Mercedes-Benz unleashes new Vito & V-Class on the streets
Mercedes-Benz has shared some official images of its next-generation van lineup running road tests. Both the new V-Class and Vito benefit from a new platform called VAN.EA and are scheduled to go on sale in 2026.
Despite the camouflage, both models have revised body profiles, styling updates at the front end and new lights at both ends. The door handles seem to be flush, too. You can watch the video here to compare with the current generation.
Mercedes promises us “clear differences” between the passenger and commercial versions, as well as more available configurations made possible by the new unitized platform. For example, the passenger van lineup will offer models ranging from affordable family haulers to luxurious VIP limos for the most demanding customers.
Both the V-Class and the Vito will go on sale with a choice between FWD and AWD. Both will support the 800V power standard for faster charging and take advantage of the latest infotainment OS version. Moving forward, the company promises to add Level 3 and 4 self-driving options to the list. The all-electric lineup will have at least 500 km (310 miles) of range per charge.
This is all still under development, though. The next series of road tests will take place in a cold winter environment somewhere in Sweden, Mercedes says.
