Mercedes-AMG GT Electric spied testing with 4WS
Mercedes-AMG continues testing the successor to the gas-powered GT liftback, Autoevolution reports. The latest spy shots suggest that the car has four-wheel steering and may pack as many as three state-of-the-art motors delivering up to 480 PS (473 hp / 353 kW) each.
According to the photographer, the electric GT didn’t look nearly as smooth and understated as Mercedes’ other recent vehicles. It had a much more aggressive exterior with a flair of elegance, seemingly inspired by the Vision AMG concept (see video).
It’s official that the newcomer rides on a new architecture known as the AMG.EA. It is essentially a modification of the MB.EA platform developed for high-end, sporty EVs. Mercedes-Benz has been designing the GT Electric with the help from UK-based company Yasa, which it has since integrated as a subsidiary.
Just to be clear, we weren’t able to find any conclusive evidence of four-wheel steering in the gallery below, but the person who made the photos claimed they saw it in action, so there’s that.
