Hongqi’s next electric sedan spotted testing
Hongqi, a premium vehicle brand and part of FAW Group, has brought out another sedan for pre-production testing. AutoHome believes it is a continuation of the E009 Concept unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show this spring. The launch is expected in October.
As a part of the automaker’s New Energy strategy, you can safely expect the car to be all-electric. It is still wrapped in camo, but the outlines are unmistakably those of the E009. The front bumper looks a little bit tamer and the headlights are different, but that’s about it. There is also an integrated trunk lid spoiler and an impressively large rear diffuser.
Rumor has it that the company is developing the E009 based on another vehicle from the same family, the EH7 (see video). Unlike that car, the newcomer will reportedly utilize newer electric motors – one unit rated at 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) in the base spec and two identical motors mounted one per axle in the top spec. Despite packing the extra power, it will allegedly be smaller and less expensive than the EH7.
