Mitsubishi previews the precursor to the next L200
The so-called Mitsubishi XRT pictured here is said to be the prototype of the next-generation L200 truck, also known as the Triton in some countries. The sales start is expected in late 2023, with Thailand being the first market on the list.
The car in the photos wears camo, but you can still discern a boxy cab, bulging wheel arches and a nearly upright radiator grille. The outlines are similar to those of the latest Nissan Navara, and we wouldn’t be surprised if it came based on the platform and engine selection.
The new Triton will be produced at a factory in Thailand and exported from there to ASEAN and Oceania markets. Before the mass production begins, a number of prototypes tuned by the company’s Ralliart division will participate in the Asia Cross Country rally. Mitsubishi claims that the experience gained at the rally will let it optimize the build before proceeding with the assembly.
