2025 MINI Cooper Convertible debuts as an ICE-only car

MINI has expanded its current Cooper lineup with a Convertible version. It features an extra roof hatch and a cloth top that takes 18 seconds to auto-fold. The only engine available is a 2.0-liter turbo, but it comes in three boost stages to choose from.

First things first, though. The servomotors raising and folding soft top operate at 30 km/h (18.6 miles per hour) or less. Design changes caused the trunk to shrink further – it now offers only 215 liters (7.6 cubic feet) of luggage space with the top raised and 160 liters (5.65 cubic feet) with it tucked away. Anti-roll protection and a windscreen mounted behind the seats are included in the base spec.

Customers are choosing from 12 exterior colors this time around, including a new shade of grey. There are several cabin trim options as well, and you can pay more to get JCW bucket seats (they come included as standard in the Cooper JCW version).

The entry-level powertrain belongs to a model named MINI Cooper С. It produces 163 PS (161 hp / 120 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. Getting from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes a sluggish 8.2 seconds, and the top speed doesn’t exceed 220 km/h (136 mph).

The middle-ground spec is known as the Cooper S. It packs 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque, allowing it to complete the sprint in 69 seconds and hit 237 km/h (147 mph). The JCW version is still a work in progress, so there are no details yet.
