Video: Old Honda Civic revs up to its limits on the autobahn

A non-stock 1993 Honda Civic made it into the latest episode of AutoTopNL. Buying the car back in the nineties would normally get you a modest 1.6-liter engine, but the hot hatch in the video makes use of the 2.0-liter Honda K20 mill massaged to deliver some extra horsepower (and rev up to an insane 9,000 RPM).

The specifics are scarce, but you can easily see that the drivetrain is far from stock. Thanks to the modifications, the elderly Civic accelerates from 64 to 210 km/h (40 to 130 miles per hour) in just 18 seconds. It is by no means a record, but nonetheless impressive considering the class of the car and its 30 years of age.

Continuing to floor the pedal, the driver later manages to hit 220 km/h (136 mph) and ultimately even 233 km/h (145 mph). All the speed readings come from a GPS-enabled phone and not the speedometer, so they can be depended upon to be accurate.
