Smart #3 slated for April 17 premiere

Around a year ago, Smart has unveiled its all-electric urban car named the #1. The car company now plans to launch one new model every 12 months through 2027. The next one will debut live at the Auto Shanghai show starting on April 17, 2023.

The novelty is called Smart #3 and is styled as an SUV. It is slightly larger than the #1, but shorter than the Volkswagen ID.5. Shots leaked in November 2022 showed the #3 without any camouflage, revealing a same-looking front end, a slanted windshield and a sloped roofline.

Per Automotive News Europe, the CEO of Smart said the new model would be ‘roomier and sportier.’ Rumor has it there will be multiple drivetrains to choose from, including a dual-motor one. The maximum output will amount to 268 PS (264 hp / 197 kW). The range and battery capacity remain to be seen, though.
