Polestar 2 gets a designed-focused special edition

The all-electric Polestar 2 liftback will reach the market in a limited series called “BST Edition 230” later this year. Let’s see what it is about.

Earlier rumors suggested that the car would be the most powerful in its entire lineup, but the announcement proved those rumors wrong. As it turns out, it has the same power as the BST Edition 270 from the last year, which has lost its lead in power and torque since the facelift. The design is where the company focused most of its efforts.

Per Thomas Ingenlath, ex-Volvo Design Director and the current CEO of Polestar, such special series enable the company to conduct studies in the areas of finishes, graphics and materials applicable to cars faster and in a more creative way. By default, the new car comes pained in Nebula Green with an optional black stripe running down the middle. The numeric designation of the EV can be seen on the hood cover. Those who aren’t into this particular shade of green may request Space Black instead.

Inside, this is MicroSuede fabric on the seats and the steering wheel. The option packs Plus, Pilot and Performance are already included in the base trim level.

Like the BST Edition 270 before it, the new spin on the Polestar 2 features suspension tweaks that make it ride 25 mm (1 inch) lower, stiffer springs (+20%), and adjustable Öhlins shocks.

21-inch wheels in the arches resemble those of the part-electric Polestar 1 and come wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires. Four-piston Brembo brakes at the front have golden calipers and 400mm rotors.

A pair of electric motors drives the wheels with a combined 476 PS (469 hp / 350 kW) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque. Going from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 4.4 seconds, and the top speed lies at 205 km/h (127 mph).

Only 230 units in total will be made in China for Europe and North America. Pre-orders are already being processed, even though there is still no final price. The shipments are set to begin in Q3 2023.
