Lexus LFA successor could be a 1,000-HP hybrid

Lexus is considering turning its Electrified Sport Concept into a mass-produced supercar with LFA heritage, BestCarWeb reports. The car is allegedly already in development with a 1,000-horsepower hybrid powertrain comparable to that of the next Lamborghini flagship. An all-electric variant could also be in the works.

According to insider reports, the car will be based on a 4.0-liter V8 engine boosted to 700 PS (690 hp / 515 kW). Another 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW) or so should come from an electric system.

Being based on the TNGA-L platform, the model will allegedly get a largely aluminum chassis and a carbon-fiber exterior. On the outside, it will look like the Electrified Sport Concept revealed last year (you will find it in the gallery and the video here).

Earlier reports said Lexus was working on a purely electric supercar. BestCarWeb supports these rumors by saying the hybrid is slated for launch in 2025 and the EV in the following year.
