Honda previews a self-driving warehouse shuttle
Honda has released a handful of images previewing AWV – the Autonomous Work Vehicle, a self-driving electric transporter suitable for use in enclosed spaces. The full reveal will take place at the Conexpo.
Unlike all earlier Honda warehouse shuttles, this one comes equipped with LiDAR tech making autopilot algorithms smarter and helping the vehicle position itself correctly in space. The powertrain lets the chassis accelerate to 16 km/h (10 mph) and last 45 km (28 miles) on a single charge of its 18.6-kWh traction battery.
The chassis weighs 800 kg (1,764 pounds) and is 3,025 mm (just under 10 feet) long. It can carry up to 907 kilos (2,000 pounds) of cargo and lacks on-board controls, but can be steered remotely when needed.
