Video: What happens when you fit a Tesla powertrain into a Porsche 912

Two U.S.-based companies, Zelectric Motors and EV West, unveiled the result of their latest joint project: an EV conversion of a venerable Porsche 912. Let us see what the 1960s rarity gained in the process.

The build is based on the Tesla S P85 powertrain and a modest-sized traction battery supplied by LG Chem Ltd. We don’t have the kilowatt-hour rating for you, but the creators say the restomod runs approximately 140 miles (225 km) on a single charge. The nominal power output is 422 horsepower (315 kilowatts).

It remains unclear whether any of the companies is interested in mass-producing such cars, but a conversion kit like this should cost ca. $50,000. As long as you have the money, we believe any professional EV modder could do it for you.
